The Reserve and Wildlife
The reserve is situated in an ecozone between the kalahari sandveld and the northern bushveld. The reserve consists of vast plains, open woodlands and thickets. The area is also dotted with huge rocky hills or inselbergs and the dwarsberg mountain range forms the southern boundary. There is only one river in the reserve, the Groot Marico, but a number of dams and pans provide water year round for the game species present.

The reserve is home to 28 different mammal species which where released into the park through a relocation process called Operation Phoenix. This was the largest game translocation exercise in the world, with more than 8 000 animals being released into the reserve, starting in 1991 and the project was completed in 1997 and included the release of species such as elephant, both black and white rhino, buffalo, lion, cheetah, wild dog, and other plains game species. Madikwe is also a bird watchers paradise, with over 350 bird species already recorded in the reserve.

The Impodimo Experience
Rise in the morning to an African dawn and enjoy an early morning game drive with your dedicated professional ranger. Relax as your ranger guides you through the bush on a custom made open Landrover, searching out the Big 5 or the smaller secrets of nature.

Set out on a foot safari with your armed ranger and learn the secrets of tracking African game or just enjoy the trees, birds and stunning scenery. Return from the excitement of the bush to a sumptuous breakfast or brunch and then relax at the pool or the sala overlooking the waterhole where game may come to quench their thirst. In the afternoon, when the heat of the African sun has diminished and the shadows are longer, head out again on a sundowner safari, where you will stop to watch the sun set on this bushveld paradise and enjoy your favorite sundowner drink.

Once the sun has set and darkness descends, set off again for a night safari where the more nocturnal creatures now rule the bush. Return to the lodge where you will be treated to the finest Pan-African cuisine with your hosts in the open air boma, and share your days adventures, while you enjoy a night cap around the fire.

Accommodation at Impodimo Game Lodge
Carved from the hillside, eight glass fronted luxury chalets line a natural spring, each enjoying striking views either from within or from the outdoor shower. The lodge enjoys spectacular vistas extending as far as the eye can see, your choice may be to visit in summer and laze on the pool deck with a chilled chardonnay. Or maybe a winter safari - retire to the library with a cognac or stoke the fire in your suite, gaze out at the stars before drifting away with vivid images of unrestricted close encounters with Africa's big game.

Deluxe safari Option
The Deluxe safari option is for that special occasion or for those looking for the last word in luxury, exclusivity and privacy. This safari option includes a private vehicle, with your very own ranger and tracker, offering unlimited safari activities, including game drives on open 4×4 vehicles and walking safaris. A service team including a private chef, waitron and butler who ensure tailored elegant dining at the unit, are always on hand to make your stay truly unforgettable.

Deluxe safari option guests are accommodated in a self contained luxury unit, which has two suites, each with its own private deck and ensuite bathroom with indoor and out door shower , double hand basin, large bath and excellent views. The unit also has a central lounge and dining facility with its own kitchen, bar and a viewing deck overlooking a waterhole and stunning views. Attached are a private decked boma and "braai area" (barbeque area) for al fresco dining with sparkling private pool and deck all over looking the floodlit waterhole. The main lodge can be accessed from the unit and guests are welcome to enjoy the facilities available. For those wanting to remain out of the public eye or just prefer the privacy, the unit has its own private entrance.

Family Safari option
The Family Safari option offers stunning private accommodation for up to four adults and two children, all safe and secure under one roof. This safari option includes a private vehicle, with your very own ranger and tracker, offering tailored safari activities, including game drives on open 4×4 vehicles and walking safaris (over 16yrs old only). As the vehicle is for your exclusive use, safaris can be tailored to the special requirements of your family and can include even the youngest children. All children are included in the children's program. Meals are enjoyed at the main lodge facility where guests can socialize and the special dietary requirements of children are catered for.

The Family safari option guests are accommodated in a self contained luxury unit, which has two suites, each with its own private deck and ensuite bathroom with indoor and out door shower, double hand basin, large bath and excellent views. The unit also has a central lounge and dining facility with its own kitchen, bar and a viewing deck overlooking a waterhole and stunning views. There is also a private pool fitted with a safety net when not in use for those with younger children.
